My experience was good enough that I will likely go back again next time, and I feel comfortable recommending it to my spouse and others. Most important to me is that the procedure was performed competently without causing undue harm to me (as far as I can tell). That counts for a lot. The staff are well-mannered. I do see some room for improvement. The biggest thing, in my view, is counseling about the prep. I just had my second colonoscopy less than two years after my first (same place), because the prep the first time was deemed insufficient. Apparently, nationwide, the prep is deemed insufficient 15-30% of the time! (The study I saw was from 2018.) Between the physician, the anaesthesiologist, and the clinic, they're billing these out at thousands of dollars. Surely, we can all work better together to improve the prep success rate. I would have benefitted from significantly more human interaction IN ADVANCE to help me understand what good prep looks/feels like, including what the hour-by-hour milestones are in order to feel "on schedule." I didn't know what I didn't know. Instead, they send a packet of instructions by mail (~10 pages) that include information for all the different kinds of prep that are used. And the instructions do not exactly match the instructions that come with the prep itself. I think some more education and telephone communication leading up to and during the prep would help. A second area for improvement is the reporting. In my pre-procedure visit with the doctor, I asked him to comment on the hemorrhoid situation, because it has come up several times in various contexts over the past couple of decades. The post-procedure "discussion" happened while I was technically conscious, but I have no recollection of it at all. I asked my wife what he said about the hemorrhoids; she said he didn't say anything about the situation. The write-up has this: "Impressions: Internal hemorrhoids." That's not as helpful as it could be. Again, these procedures are being billed out at thousands of dollars.
The facility was clean and efficient. The staff, nurses and doctors were friendly and I would choose this center if I need future help!
